This 5-day course focuses on air sampling analysis for fibers by phase contrast microscopy using the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) method 7400. It is designed as an equivalent in structure and objectives to the NIOSH equivalent course number 582e (Sampling and Evaluating Airborne Asbestos Dust). It is intended to fulfill the mandatory analyst training requirements (OSHA) asbestos regulations for Construction and General Industries (29 CFR 1926.1101 and 1910.1001). College level algebra and physics are helpful.

This course is for an extra 8hr. day dedicated to microscopy to be added on to the tail end of the Air Monitoring Specialist (AMS) initial training course. This additional day of training is intended to be combined with materials already taught in the AMS course to provide the student with adequate knowledge equivalent to a NIOSH 582e course. This training is targeted towards individuals that may be performing onsite PCM analysis of asbestos fibers in remote locations away from established laboratories. College level algebra and physics are helpful.

About Our Live-Remote Courses
To protect you and your team in the midst of the Coronavirus Pandemic, CHC Training is now offering Live-Zoom classes as an alternative to in-person training. We’ve worked diligently to expand the state approval for these classes too and continue to do so. See Courses by State to see state approvals of all of our online classes.
Live-Zoom classes include the same great content and learning, and you can attend them virtually.
Participation in Live-Zoom classes requires:
- Reliable internet
- Desktop computer (no phones)
- Web camera
- Speakers
- Pre-registration – space fills quickly
- Some states require you to provide identification. When needed, we’ll ask you to upload a copy of your id when you are registering. You can take a picture with phone.
Upon course completion, we will email your certificate as well as mail you a hard copy certificate.
