EPA RRP Certification
According to EPA rules on Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP), firms performing projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, childcare facilities, and preschools built before 1978 must be certified by the EPA (or an EPA-authorized state). They also must use Certified Renovators who are trained by EPA-approved training providers, such as CHC Training and follow lead-safe work practices.
With that in mind, CHC Training offers courses specifically designed to satisfy these RRP training requirements.
Our 8-hour EPA-approved Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Initial Certified Renovator course prepares, trains, and certifies contractors in EPA lead-safe work practices. The instruction includes hands-on exercises involving containment set-up, lead-based paint sampling, and containment clean-up.
Once the course is completed, contractors comply with the individual training requirements under the EPA’s RRP rule, as well as HUD’s Lead Safe Housing Rule. The course also satisfies OSHA's Lead in General Industry, Lead in Construction, and Respirator requirements. Certification from CHC Training is valid for 5 years.
CHC Training also offers two options for the 4-hour RRP refresher courses, for those who have already taken the 8-hour course and their certification from such has not expired.
Our EPA Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Certified Renovator Refresher course reviews the relevant and important information given in the initial training course. It also provides up-to-date information regarding regulatory changes, changes in state-of-the-art work practices, and/or any other changes to the RRP Certified Renovator discipline.
One option of the refresher is offered in an EPA-approved, online asynchronous 4-hour course, for those who can't make it in-person or would rather move through the material at their own pace. Certifications from the online refresher are valid for a period of 3 years. The other option for the refresher is to take a Live/Classroom 4-hour refresher. Certifications from the Live/Classroom refresher are valid for a period of 5 years.
