Description

Personnel working in facilities with asbestos or likely to contain asbestos are required to have this Operations & Maintenance certification training. Gain the professional skills you need to safely conduct your work while minimizing asbestos exposure and fiber releases. Prior maintenance and operational experience recommended but not required.

As a minimum requirement for the completion and oversight of small-scale asbestos removal and control activities, the 16 hour initial asbestos operations & maintenance certificate is the ideal solution for anyone looking to maintain 100% regulatory compliance while performing regular maintenance activities. This class covers information on types of asbestos, where asbestos can be found, current regulations, and information on the health effects associated with exposure. Many structures built prior to 1978 typically have asbestos containing building materials including; floor tile, sheet linoleum, mastics, drywall textures, joint compounds, roofing materials, exterior siding, pipe / boiler insulations, HVAC duct insulations, and other related coatings. This course meets the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) General Industry Asbestos Standard, the OSHA Construction Asbestos Standard and the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). Upon completion of this course participants will have hands-on knowledge on how to repair and manage asbestos materials in their facilities including a certificate documenting their attendance. This course will explore operations & maintenance activities in all areas of public, commercial, private, industrial, educational, governmental, and residential buildings/sites and give information on how to properly identify and remove asbestos containing building materials (ACBMs) and asbestos containing materials (ACMs). This course will prepare the student for a variety of jobs in facilities management and oversight.
